KUALA LUMPUR — The theme “Malaysia MADANI: Kesejahteraan Dinikmati” has been selected for the National Day and Malaysia Day 2026 (HKHM2026) celebrations, with the Malaysia MADANI logo retained as the official emblem until 2027.
Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the National Day 2026 celebration will take place at Dataran Putrajaya on August 31, and will be observed on a moderate yet lively scale.
He said the chosen theme reflects the government’s aspiration to build a progressive, inclusive and harmonious nation.
“The selection of this theme reflects the government’s vision to create a progressive, inclusive, and harmonious nation, meaning that every individual can enjoy comprehensive well-being.
“The main focus of this theme is to ensure that prosperity is not just enjoyed by certain groups, but by all Malaysians,” he said at a post-Cabinet press conference on Thursday.
Fahmi, who is also the MADANI Government spokesperson, urged media practitioners to help promote the HKHM2026 theme so that its message reaches all levels of society ahead of National Day on August 31 and Malaysia Day on September 16.
He said details of programmes and activities for HKHM2026 can be accessed via the official Merdeka360 portal.
While declining to reveal full details, Fahmi said several unique elements are being planned for this year’s celebrations.
“For everyone’s information, programmes and activities throughout the national month will still be celebrated vibrantly despite being carried out on a moderate scale,” he said.
He added that the Launch of National Month and the Fly the Jalur Gemilang 2026 campaign will be held in Ipoh, Perak on July 18, while the Malaysia Day 2026 celebration on September 16 will take place in Sarawak.
He said Sarawak’s selection follows the rotation practice between Sabah, Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia, aimed at strengthening unity and national cohesion.
To further enliven HKHM2026, Fahmi said seven supporting programmes and patriotic activities will be held nationwide, including Kembara Bahasa HKHM, Quran Hour, Ambang Merdeka, Kira Detik Merdeka, RIUH Merdeka and the Statesmen Commemoration Ceremony. — June 26, 2026
