KUALA LUMPUR – Bersatu vice-president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu would like Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to accelerate the completion of several long-delayed development projects in Tambun, particularly a proposed health clinic in Manjoi.
Speaking on the Trick Lama podcast hosted by Big Boom Media editor-in-chief Terence Fernandez, executive director Datuk “Rocky” Ahiruddin Attan and chief executive officer Datuk Zainul Arifin Mohammed Isa, Faizal—better known as Peja—said several initiatives that began during his tenure as Tambun MP and Perak menteri besar had yet to be completed.
“Even now, I sincerely hope that, now that we have the Prime Minister as our MP, some of the things that I worked on can finally be completed.”
“There is the health clinic in Manjoi, and then there is the stadium,” he said of the Federal projects.
Faizal said the proposed clinic would serve one of the country’s largest Malay population centres.
“The largest Malay village community in Malaysia is located within the Tambun parliamentary constituency, yet even that is something the Member of Parliament has been unable to complete,” he added.

He made a direct appeal for the project to be initiated without further delay, stressing that his remarks were driven by public need rather than political interest.
“Because this is something that is very much needed.” It can be his legacy, it doesn’t matter.
“Because my issue is not about legacy; it’s about the services for the people,” he explained futher.
Anwar defeated Faizal in the Tambun parliamentary seat during Malaysia’s 15th General Election (GE15) on November 19, 2022, winning by a majority of 5,328 votes. Anwar secured 32,026 votes compared to Faizal’s 26,698, marking a significant victory that paved the way for Anwar to become Malaysia’s 10th Prime Minister.
Beyond healthcare, Faizal also highlighted sports infrastructure projects that he said had similarly stalled despite earlier groundwork, including plans to upgrade football facilities and develop FIFA-standard pitches.
“As the former Youth and Sports Minister, I had already worked with the Perak state government at that time to secure the right specifications to obtain FIFA-standard pitch dimensions and all that.”
“So, we had already taken over the land through a land swap involving KBS-owned land in Perak. All of that had been settled, but it has not been continued,” Peja said.
He argued that the Prime Minister, given his position, has both the authority and resources to ensure the projects are delivered.

“As Prime Minister, with virtually unlimited budget, just go ahead and build the health clinic that is urgently needed in Manjui.”
Faizal said he continues to return to Tambun regularly to engage with residents and strengthen Bersatu’s grassroots presence ahead of the next general election.
“But, for me, I try whatever I can.”I try to go back every weekend—leave on Friday and return on Monday.”
He added that governance should prioritise resolving everyday issues affecting residents rather than projects driven by visibility or political gain.
As political parties begin gearing up for the next general election, Tambun is expected to remain a closely watched seat, with Faizal signalling his readiness to contest again should he receive party backing.– June 28, 2026
