KUALA LUMPUR — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has officially launched the Light Rail Transit 3 (LRT3 Shah Alam Line), marking a major milestone for the completion and opening of the 37.8-kilometre rail corridor linking Bandar Utama to Johan Setia.
The fully completed line is now ready to begin passenger operations following the launch ceremony held on Sunday, June 28.
The Shah Alam Line comprises 20 stations, with the new line set to significantly improve connectivity across the Klang Valley and serve an estimated two million residents along its route.
The stations on the line are Bandar Utama, Kayu Ara, BU 11 (Bandar Utama 11), Damansara Idaman, Subang, Glenmarie 2, Kerjaya, Stadium Shah Alam, Dato’ Menteri, UiTM Shah Alam, Seksyen 7 Shah Alam, Bandar Baru Klang, Pasar Klang, Jalan Meru, Jambatan Kota, Taman Selatan, Seri Andalas, Klang Jaya, Bandar Bukit Tinggi and Johan Setia.

The line offers interchange connectivity with the Kajang Line at Bandar Utama and the Kelana Jaya Line at Glenmarie 2.
A total of 40 feeder bus routes have been introduced across 13 corridors with 323 stops, operating at a flat fare of RM1 per trip between 6am and 11.30pm.
In addition, Rapid On-Demand van services have been introduced, with 44 vans serving 20 zones at RM2 per trip within the same operating hours.
Parking facilities are available at six stations — Kayu Ara, Damansara Idaman, Pasar Besar Klang, Sri Andalas, Bandar Bukit Tinggi and Johan Setia — providing a total of 2,300 bays.

Prasarana Malaysia Berhad is targeting an initial daily ridership of 67,000 passengers in the first year of operations, with projections rising to 117,708 daily users within five years.
The line incorporates several sustainability features, including inverter-based air-conditioning systems and energy-efficient station designs that maximise natural ventilation and daylight usage.
All stations are equipped with accessibility features, including wheelchair ramps, accessible toilets and designated seating for persons with disabilities in all train carriages.
Reconstruction works for the Tropicana, Raja Muda, Temasya, Bukit Raja and Bandar Botanik stations are scheduled to begin by the end of the year. — June 28, 2026
