KUALA LUMPUR – The High Court of Malaya has ruled that the resignations of three of its former office bearers were unequivocal, bringing to an end a dispute over their positions within the national governing body.
In a statement, The Malaysian Cricket Association (MCA) said the court found that the resignations of Mohammed Iqbal Ali Kassim Ali, Dr Arun Kumar Beshamber Nath and Amarjeet Singh were clear and unconditional, and that they had therefore ceased to hold their respective offices in the association.
“The High Court determined that the resignations of the above-named individuals were unequivocal. Consequently, they have ceased to hold their respective offices in the Malaysian Cricket Association and are no longer office bearers of the Association,” MCA said.
The association also said the court found there was no challenge to the validity of the
Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) held on April 13, 2025, and the Biennial General Meeting (BGM) held on April 27, 2025.
According to MCA, the court further ruled that attempts by the three individuals to withdraw their resignations had been rejected by the association, with the rejection formally communicated through a letter dated April 23, 2025.
In addition, the High Court granted injunctive relief restraining the three individuals from holding themselves out as office bearers of the association or acting on its behalf.
The association said it would circulate the court’s written Grounds of Judgment to its members once they become available.
“We trust that this decision provides clarity and enables the Association to move forward with certainty. Let us now focus our collective efforts on strengthening and developing Malaysian cricket for the benefit of our players, our members, and future generations,” the statement said.
MCA also expressed its appreciation to its legal team, led by Chetan Jethwani and Soo Siew Mei, for representing the association throughout the proceedings.
“The Malaysian Cricket Association extends its sincere appreciation to our legal counsel, led by Mr Chetan Jethwani and Ms Soo Siew Mei, for their professionalism, dedication, and invaluable contribution in representing the Association throughout these proceedings. Their commitment and expertise have been greatly appreciated,” it said. – July 1, 2026
