KUALA LUMPUR – Barisan Nasional (BN) Johor has described its victory in securing more than 40 seats in the 16th Johor State Election as a strong mandate from the people to continue serving, engaging with the community and addressing issues affecting the state.
BN Johor chairman Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the victory was a major responsibility entrusted to the coalition, which it accepted with gratitude and humility, Bernama reported.
“Syukur alhamdulillah, as mentioned by UMNO President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, BN Johor has won more than 40 seats today. With full humility, I, on behalf of the BN Johor leadership, would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the entire Bangsa Johor who have given us such an encouraging mandate.
“This major mandate gives BN Johor the spirit to continue serving, engaging with the people and resolving rakyat issues better. That is our commitment when we are given such a mandate,” he said at a press conference held at the Johor UMNO Liaison Office here tonight.
Also present were UMNO president and BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, UMNO vice-president Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, UMNO secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, as well as UMNO Supreme Council members Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan and Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein.
Onn Hafiz said the victory was achieved with Allah’s permission, as well as through the efforts and sacrifices of the party machinery throughout the campaign period.
He reminded all newly elected BN representatives that the victory came with a great responsibility to serve all Johoreans, regardless of race or political affiliation.
He said that with the consent of the Sultan of Johor and the Regent of Johor, the state government would continue efforts to advance the Maju Johor agenda for the wellbeing of the people.
“To the newly elected representatives, you have a great responsibility. The mandate given is to look after the entire Bangsa Johor, whether they support us or not.
“We will take care of all Johor people, Malays, Chinese, Indians, Orang Asli and the entire Bangsa Johor.
“Let us unite our ranks, discard what is bitter and take what is good. The election season has ended, now is the time to shoulder the responsibility of building the Johor we all aspire to, insya-Allah,” he said.
Based on unofficial results, BN has secured a simple majority with 29 seats, allowing it to form the state government. – July 11, 2026
