KUALA LUMPUR – Former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob will be charged at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court tomorrow in connection with an alleged offence linked to his asset declaration.
A check of the court’s scheduling system showed that the Bera MP is expected to be charged before Sessions Court Judge Suzana Hussin at 9am on Friday.
The case is understood to stem from investigations into Ismail Sabri’s declaration of assets. He had previously been summoned several times by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to have his statement recorded as part of the probe.
The investigation has also seen the MACC seize RM170 million in cash in various foreign currencies and 16kg of gold bullion worth an estimated RM7 million during raids conducted at several properties.
The seizures followed the arrests of four of Ismail Sabri’s former senior officers in February 2025 as part of the anti-graft agency’s investigation.
Lawyer Ragunath Kesavan, who represents Ismail Sabri, confirmed to Bernama that his client will be charged at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court on Friday. – August 6, 2026
