KUALA LUMPUR – Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng has offered a RM5,000 reward for credible information that could lead to the arrest of a suspect involved in an attack that left a 62-year-old woman with serious burn injuries in Taman Pusat Kepong yesterday.
In a Facebook post today, Lim expressed outrage over the incident, in which the victim was allegedly doused with a substance believed to be petrol before being set on fire.
“I am sickened and outraged by the brutal attack at Taman Pusat Kepong yesterday, where a woman was seriously injured after being set on fire.”
“Pouring fuel on a woman and setting her on fire is an act of shocking cruelty. The person responsible must be found, arrested and made to face the full force of the law.”
“To assist the police, I am offering a RM5,000 reward for credible information that directly leads to the arrest of the suspect,” he said in the Facebook post.
Earlier, a Facebook user, Joyce Yap, appealed to shops, businesses and residents around Taman Pusat Kepong to provide CCTV footage that could assist the investigation.
Yap claimed the victim was her mother and said she suffered burn injuries in the attack, which she said occurred between 7am and 8am.
“If any nearby shops, houses, businesses, parking areas or vehicles have CCTV or dashcam recordings from that time, please help check your footage,”
“Any footage showing this person, their movements, a suspicious vehicle, or anything related to the incident could be extremely important,” she said in her statement.

Meanwhile, police have launched a special operation to track down a man who allegedly doused the woman with a substance believed to be petrol before setting her on fire at the premises of a number forecast operator in Taman Pusat Kepong.
Acting Sentul district police chief Supt Jasni Zolpa said the victim, who worked as counter staff at the number forecast operator, was attacked by an unidentified suspect.
“Preliminary investigations revealed the victim did not have any enemies nor received any previous threats. The motive of the incident is being investigated,” he said in a statement yesterday as reported by Malay Mail.
Jasni added the victim suffered burns to about 50 per cent of her body and was rushed to Kuala Lumpur Hospital, where she was reported to be in stable but critical condition.
The Kuala Lumpur contingent police headquarters’ forensics team also conducted further investigations at the scene and collected several samples and deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) evidence to assist the investigation.
The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code. – August 10, 2026
