KUALA LUMPUR — Tickets under the Madani initiative for the 2026 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC), priced from RM200, have sold out following strong demand from Malaysian fans.

Youth and Sports Minister Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari said SIC had reported overwhelming interest after ticket sales opened to the public, with the ministry now looking into whether additional Madani tickets could be made available.

“As of today, the Madani tickets have been fully sold, but we will also see whether there is room and a need for additional Madani tickets.

“We will make announcements from time to time,” he told reporters after the closing ceremony of Innovation Development Through Educational Activities (iDEA’26) and the 2026 East Zone Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) roadshow by the Youth and Sports Ministry’s Skills Training Institutions (ILKBS) at Dewan Tun Razak in Temerloh today.

In a statement, SIC said the overwhelming response had also triggered an unusual surge in traffic to the official Bahrain GP website, bahraingp.com, with tickets selling at a rapid pace.

“We know many of you are excited to secure your tickets and we greatly appreciate your patience and cooperation as the ticket sales process continues.

“We cannot wait to welcome you to Sepang for an extraordinary F1 weekend,” it said.

SIC added that updates on ticket availability would be announced through the official social media channels of the Bahrain International Circuit and SIC.

The Madani ticket initiative was previously announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, with Malaysian MyKad holders given access to specially priced tickets starting from RM200 to watch the Bahrain GP live at SIC.

According to information published on the official Bahrain GP website, MyKad holders are eligible for special prices across six seating categories, ranging from RM200 to RM2,083.40.

The most affordable option, Hillstand G, is priced at RM200, while Hillstands B and C cost RM809.60 each.

For grandstand seating, tickets are priced at RM1,291.40 for Grandstand F, RM1,386 for Grandstand K1 and RM2,083.40 for the Main Grandstand.

International ticket prices are considerably higher, with three-day tickets listed at USD565.40 for the Main Grandstand, USD376.20 for Grandstand K1 and USD350.90 for Grandstand F. Hillstands B and C are priced at USD220 each.

The Main Grandstand, K1 and F offer covered, seated viewing areas, while Hillstands B, C and G are open-air grassed areas.

Formula 1 and the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) previously confirmed that the 2026 Bahrain GP would be held at SIC from Oct 2 to 4 as part of an agreement between Malaysia and Bahrain.

The race was originally scheduled to take place at the Bahrain International Circuit in April but was postponed to October amid geopolitical tensions in West Asia.

SIC previously hosted the Malaysian Grand Prix from 1999 to 2017 before the race was dropped from the F1 calendar due to rising hosting costs and licensing fees. – August 17, 2026
