KUALA LUMPUR – Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin will seek an audience with the Regent of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Ismail, to clarify administrative issues within the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF), following His Highness’ recent remarks on Mindef and the Regimen Gerak Khas (RGK).

Khaled said the meeting is aimed at providing a clearer picture of matters raised, including concerns voiced by the Regent.

“I believe we need to provide a clear explanation regarding the statement and decree. Indeed, in the near future, there will be an opportunity to have an audience, and perhaps we can work together to improve the situation,” he told reporters after the Kota Tinggi Barisan Nasional Thanksgiving ceremony at Dewan Jubli Intan Sultan Ibrahim yesterday.

On Tuesday, Tunku Mahkota Ismail decreed that all parties involved in RGK’s development must not alter decisions approved by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, for vested interests.

During the parade ceremony marking RGK’s 61st Anniversary in Mersing, the Regent also raised concerns about management issues within MINDEF and the leadership of the MAF. – August 23, 2026
