KUALA LUMPUR – Bersatu has given its in-principle approval for two of its Pahang state assemblymen to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) expressing support for Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail.
Bersatu vice-president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu said the decision involved Kuala Sentul assemblyman Datuk Jasri Jamaluddin and Lepar assemblyman Mohd Yazid Mohd Yunus.
“Bersatu’s Political Bureau, chaired by Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, discussed this matter from all angles and, in principle, supports the action taken,” he said in a media statement.
Ahmad Faizal said both assemblymen had first conveyed their intentions and referred the final decision to the party leadership before signing the agreement.
He added that the move was taken to safeguard public order and protect the interests of residents in both state constituencies.
“This decision was made to ensure political stability in Pahang and to ensure that the welfare of the people in both state constituencies receives the appropriate attention from the Pahang state government,” Ahmad Faizal said.
The statement was issued following the formal signing of an MoU between the Pahang state government, led by Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH), and the two Bersatu representatives from the opposition.
The clarification was intended to assure party members and the public that the move by the two assemblymen was carried out through proper party channels and had received the backing of Bersatu’s top leadership.
It also aimed to prevent speculation over possible changes in political alignment or disciplinary action against the two lawmakers. – August 26, 2026
