KUALA LUMPUR — Employers must now include a verified accommodation address for each of their foreign workers with the Foreign Workers Medical Examination System (Fomema).
Fomema, in an announcement on its website, said the new requirement would take effect Monday (Sept 7).
“Employers and Panel Agencies must review and confirm each foreign worker’s accommodation address. If the address is incorrect or no longer current, it must be updated before registration can proceed,” the notice states.
Fomema said the new requirement is to ensure it has updated information on foreign workers to ensure better tracing.
As such, employers must verify that the place of residence of their foreign workers current and accurate before they can click “save” on the information to register a worker.
“Registrations cannot be completed until the accommodation address has been confirmed or updated,” Fomema said.
The private company appointed by the Health Ministry to conduct health checks on foreign workers has required mandatory medical examinations for each worker annually, as part of measures to protect public health as well as a healthy workforce.
Employers are to register their foreign workers with Fomema for medical checks within 72 hours of the workers’ arrival in Malaysia, and can only receive the health check at the company’s panel clinics. – Sept 5, 2026
