KUALA LUMPUR – A former Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) general manager was hauled to the Magistrate’s Court here today for remand proceedings over suspected abuse of power involving developer appointments and the illicit sale of prime statutory body land in the capital.
The suspect, in his late 60s, arrived at 9.15 am clad in a green collared shirt under heavy Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) escort. He was nabbed at 4 pm yesterday alongside another suspect in his 50s after both were summoned to the MACC headquarters to give their statements.
The high-profile arrest marks the latest escalation in ‘OPS FELLA’—a massive special operation targeting a decade of alleged asset siphoning, governance breakdowns, and high-level corruption between 2010 and 2020 within Felda and its investment arm, Felda Investment Corporation Sdn Bhd (FIC).
The multi-year probe aligns directly with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s vocal commitment to rooting out systemic corruption and recovering lost state assets within major public institutions. Grounded in top-level executive concern over past financial mismanagement that severely crippled settlers’ welfare, federal authorities have greenlit a full-scale accounting of legacy deals.
Just last week, MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman confirmed the opening of seven comprehensive investigation papers under ‘OPS FELLA’ targeting dubious investment transactions and asset acquisitions made by past Felda and FIC managements.
Of the seven investigation files, six brand-new papers were opened on Aug 24, while one existing file remains active and is undergoing international tracking via the Mutual Legal Assistance (MLA) process.
The wide-ranging corruption probe zeroes in on multiple high-value ventures, including:
Property & Development Deals: Alleged misappropriation in the Kuala Lumpur Vertical City (KLVC) project, along with the acquisitions of Felda House and Grand Felda House.
Domestic Holdings: Investments in Sarawak-based Syarikat Tataran Aras Sdn Bhd, the acquisition of Sabah’s Grand Borneo Hotel Sdn Bhd, and the operational setup of Felda Wellness Corporation Sdn Bhd.
Overseas Acquisitions: The purchase of Grand Plaza Service Apartments in London, alongside an active MLA review involving the Park City Grand Plaza property overseas. – September 7, 2026
