PUTRAJAYA — A former minister will be charged in the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court on Monday over alleged criminal breach of trust involving the Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH), after the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) obtained approval from the attorney general to prosecute the politician.
MACC chief commissioner Datuk Seri Abdul Halim Aman said the former minister would face three charges under Section 403 of the penal code, arising from investigations into the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on TH.
“MACC has obtained consent from the attorney general to bring charges against the former minister in court.
“We have recommended three charges under Section 403 of the penal code, and the individual will be brought before to the court on Monday to face the charges,” he told reporters after an interview session at the MACC headquarters here today.
Last Tuesday, MACC released the former minister after he was remanded for seven days to assist investigations into matters highlighted in the RCI report on TH.
The former minister was previously detained and remanded after he appeared at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya to give his statement to investigators.
At the same time, MACC also obtained remand orders against a former TH chairman, a former chief executive officer (CEO) of TH and a former treasury secretary-general (KSP) to assist investigations into the matter.
On August 14, seven individuals, including a woman, were detained by MACC to assist investigations into the same issue.
Those detained comprised a CEO, a company director, a former company director and four former senior TH management personnel.
The RCI report, which was made public on July 29, contained 25 key recommendations aimed at strengthening transparency, professionalism and governance within the institution. – September 10, 2026
