PUTRAJAYA – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is seeking approval to question a former Felda chairman who is currently serving a prison sentence as part of its investigation into alleged irregularities involving assets and investments linked to Felda Investment Corporation Sdn Bhd (FIC).
MACC chief commissioner Datuk Seri Abdul Halim Aman said the agency would work with the Prisons Department to record a statement from the former chairman as investigators broaden their probe into suspected corruption and abuse of power involving Felda and its subsidiaries.
He said the former chairman was among several key witnesses who had previously held senior positions within Felda and whose testimonies could assist the investigation.
“Our investigation into Felda will involve recording statements from key witnesses who were previously part of its senior management.
“As we know, the former Felda chairman is currently serving a prison sentence for a previous corruption offence.
“Therefore, we will seek the cooperation of the prisons department to record a statement from the individual,” he told reporters after an interview session at MACC headquarters here today.
Last week, MACC opened seven investigation papers into allegations of misappropriation, abuse of power and corruption involving Felda and FIC.
Abdul Halim had previously said the large-scale special investigation, known as OPS FELLA, would examine investment transactions and asset acquisitions carried out by Felda and FIC management over a 10-year period between 2010 and 2020.
Six of the investigation papers were opened on Aug 24, while the remaining case involves an existing probe that is still active and currently undergoing the Mutual Legal Assistance (MLA) process.
The investigations cover several major transactions, including Felda’s investment in Sarawak-based Tataran Aras Sdn Bhd, the acquisition of Grand Borneo Hotel Sdn Bhd in Sabah and the purchase of Grand Plaza Service Apartments in London.
MACC is also investigating matters related to the establishment of Felda Wellness Corporation Sdn Bhd, the acquisition of Felda House and Grand Felda House, as well as alleged irregularities surrounding the Kuala Lumpur Vertical City (KLVC) development project. – September 10, 2026
