KUALA LUMPUR — The Negeri Sembilan government has suspended State Secretary Datuk Mohd Zafir Ibrahim and State Legal Advisor Datuk Muzalmah Mustapha Kamal with immediate effect following a Special Meeting of the State Executive Council (Exco) on Monday.
Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim said State Financial Officer Datuk Masri Razali will assume the duties of the State Secretary until a new appointment is made by the Chief Secretary to the Government, Bernama reported.
He added that advocate and solicitor Fahmi Adilah will provide legal advice to the state administration until a new Legal Advisor is appointed by the Attorney General’s Chambers.
“The notice of suspension for the State Secretary will be communicated to the Chief Secretary to the Government and the Public Service Department. Following that, the notice of suspension for the Negeri Sembilan State Legal Advisor will be communicated to the Attorney General’s Chambers.
“I also confirm that all Exco member positions remain intact and valid. At the same time, the administration of the Negeri Sembilan State Government will continue to run as usual, and the mandate entrusted by the people will continue to be executed to the best of our ability,” he said in a statement here today.
Earlier, Negeri Sembilan Royal Comptroller Datuk Azizi Mohamad Ali was reported as saying that the Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, had revoked the appointments of Exco members with immediate effect.
However, Ismail said there was no need to submit a new list of Exco members as the current members remained valid and would continue carrying out their responsibilities.
He also said he had never been consulted or advised at any time regarding the termination of any Negeri Sembilan Exco member under Article 38(5) of the Negeri Sembilan State Constitution (UUTKNS) 1959. – September 22, 2026
