KUALA LUMPUR — A scheduled meeting between Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim, state executive councillors (Exco) and Tunku Nadzaruddin Tuanku Ja’afar was cancelled this morning due to security concerns.
According to local reports, a source said the decision was made after authorities advised against proceeding with the meeting, which was supposed to be held at a hotel.
“The meeting at a hotel was cancelled on security grounds following advice from the authorities,” the source said.
The meeting was initially scheduled for 9am at the Tuanku Ja’afar Royal Gallery as a courtesy session for Ismail and the Exco members to meet Tunku Nadzaruddin and strengthen ties.
However, Ismail instead had breakfast with the Exco members and several state assemblymen this morning.
“The Menteri Besar only had breakfast with the Exco members and several government assemblymen,” the source added.
The meeting was previously expected to take place as part of a Majlis Menghadap Sembah Takzim, which was also expected to be attended by the Four Undangs, Tunku Besar Tampin and Dato’ Shahbandar Sungei Ujong.
The cancellation comes as the constitutional dispute in Negri Sembilan continues to draw attention following Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir’s decision to revoke the appointments of all 10 Exco members.
Ismail, however, has maintained that the state executive council members remain legally appointed and will continue carrying out their duties as usual. — September 23, 2026
