Bukit Aman nabs jet-owning pilot over 500kg meth smuggling plot

A 49-year-old Malaysian aviator becomes the fourth pilot arrested in connection with a high-profile narcotics operation spanning Southeast Asia

KUALA LUMPUR – Bukit Aman has arrested a 49-year-old Malaysian pilot linked to a private aviation firm whose aircraft was implicated in an audacious attempt to smuggle over half a tonne of crystal methamphetamine from Laos to the Philippines.

The arrest marks the fourth Malaysian pilot taken into custody in connection with the international drug-trafficking operation.

Federal Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) director Datuk Hussein Omar Khan confirmed the latest arrest to the New Straits Times this morning.

He added that federal police are finalizing an official statement on the bust, which will be released shortly. – October 8, 2026
