MyEG faces RM353.13m tax bill, government lawsuit

Zetrix AI’s subsidiary is challenging the additional tax assessments for 2021 to 2023 while seeking an amicable resolution with the Inland Revenue Board, following a separate dispute over RM314 million in government revenue

KUALA LUMPUR – My EG Sdn Bhd (MyEG), a wholly owned subsidiary of Zetrix AI Bhd, has received an additional income tax assessment totalling RM353.13 million from the Inland Revenue Board (IRB), alongside notification that the government has filed a civil suit against the company.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Zetrix AI said the assessment, received on Wednesday, comprised RM333.10 million relating to transfer pricing and RM20.02 million in deemed interest for the years of assessment 2021, 2022 and 2023, including penalties.

“The same letter also notified MyEG that the Malaysian government has filed a civil suit against MyEG in relation to this matter,” Bernama reported.

The latest development comes weeks after the Road Transport Department (JPJ) suspended services provided by MyEG and Zetrix AI, both part of the MyEG Group, effective October 5 over the failure to remit RM314 million in government revenue collected between May 19 and September 30.

The suspension covers JPJ-related services previously offered through the group, including road tax renewals, driving licence transactions and traffic summons payments.

Following the suspension, the Transport Ministry stipulated that full settlement of all outstanding revenue and late-transfer penalties was an absolute prerequisite for any extension approval or further operational consideration.

Zetrix AI said it had submitted a proposed solution to the government, adding that its immediate priority was to settle the outstanding obligations and restore the affected services.

Despite the tax dispute, MyEG remains confident in the merits of its position and will take the necessary steps to protect its interests, including defending itself through the appropriate legal channels where required.

The company has also filed an appeal with the Special Commissioners of Income Tax against the additional assessments while seeking to resolve the matter amicably with the IRB.

“The company will make further announcements on any material developments relating to the legal proceedings,” it said.

In a separate filing, Zetrix AI said it had yet to receive an official letter from the government concerning a news report published two days earlier that the government planned to sue the company over the RM314 million in outstanding payments.

The company said it would make the necessary announcements on any material developments as and when appropriate. – October 29, 2026
