KUALA LUMPUR – Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd (Petronas Carigali) has signed a series of farm-out agreements with TotalEnergies, Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company (KUFPEC) and PTTEP to coordinate the development of two offshore gas fields in Sarawak.

In a statement, subsidiary of Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas), said the agreements cover the SK410B Lang Lebah and B14 fields, which fall under separate production sharing contracts (PSCs).

Once the arrangements are completed, TotalEnergies will assume operatorship of both fields, paving the way for a more integrated approach to developing their gas resources.

The collaboration is expected to improve coordination between the projects, particularly in infrastructure planning, facilities development and the commercialisation of resources, while enhancing operational efficiency and long-term value for Sarawak and Malaysia.

Aligning operatorship and development strategies under the two PSCs is also expected to help optimise resource utilisation, streamline project execution and accelerate delivery.

Following completion of the agreements, the participating interests in each PSC will be distributed as follows: TotalEnergies will hold a 30% stake as operator, while PTTEP and KUFPEC will each hold 25%, with PETRONAS Carigali retaining the remaining 20%.

The arrangements are subject to the relevant regulatory approvals.

The agreements were formalised at a signing ceremony in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on November 1, held in conjunction with ADIPEC 2026, a major gathering of the global energy industry.

Petronas said the partnership underscored its continued commitment to developing Malaysia’s gas resources responsibly, strengthening long-term energy security and generating sustainable value for the country’s energy industry and stakeholders. – November 2, 2026
