KUALA LUMPUR – WTCKL group managing director Datuk Seri Dr Irmohizam Ibrahim has become the first Malaysian to receive the Distinguished Leadership Award at the 2025 Exhibition Excellence Awards (EEA) in Navi Mumbai, India.

The recognition marks Irmohizam’s contributions to the business events (BE) and MICE (meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions) industries, particularly in reshaping the sector through leadership and strategic advocacy.

Irmohizam joins an elite group of recipients that includes IMEX group founder and chairman Ray Bloom, Mitec CEO Mala Dorasamy, and UFI COO Adeline Vancauwelaert.

“I am deeply honoured to receive this prestigious award as it reflects my passion and unwavering commitment to the growth and transformation of the BE industry,” said Irmohizam, who also sits on the board of the World Trade Centers Association (WTCA).

“I hope that in the future we can build a more resilient, innovative and inclusive ecosystem that empowers industry players to succeed and thrive in an evolving global landscape.”

Held on May 31 at the CIDCO Exhibition & Convention Centre, the EEA is considered India’s biggest industry award platform. It is organised by Exhibition Showcase led by group editor Raghav Khosla to celebrate individuals who drive change and growth within the MICE and BE space.

The award was presented by Shanghai New International Expo Centre CEO Michael Kruppe, alongside other international delegates.

WTCKL said it was proud of Irmohizam’s achievements and reaffirmed its commitment to positioning Malaysia as a key regional and global hub for the BE industry. – June 3, 2025
