KUALA LUMPUR – Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) has cut the overnight policy rate (OPR) by 25 basis points to 2.75%, following a decision by its Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) today.
In line with the revision, the ceiling and floor rates of the OPR corridor have been adjusted to 3% and 2.5%, respectively.
According to BNM, recent data suggests global growth remains on an upward trajectory, driven by steady consumer spending and, to some extent, front-loaded economic activities.
“The global outlook continues to be underpinned by strong labour market conditions, more accommodative monetary policy, and ongoing fiscal support,” it said in a statement.
The OPR was last maintained at 2.75% in March 2023, before being raised to 3% in May that year. – July 9, 2025
