KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasised the significant role of multinational companies, such as Grab Holdings Inc, in generating high-income employment opportunities.

In a Facebook post late last night, Anwar highlighted that these companies also play a crucial part in advancing capacity development, particularly in the field of artificial intelligence (AI).

“The government welcomes these commitments and initiatives so that the welfare of Grab drivers and riders is assured,” he wrote.

The Prime Minister also shared that he had received a courtesy call from Grab co-founder and CEO Anthony Tan, along with his delegation.

Also present at the meeting were Grab Malaysia Managing Director Adelene Foo, Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz, and Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan, among others.

During the meeting, they discussed several key matters, including the implementation of the targeted petrol subsidy through the Budi Madani RON95 (BUDI95) initiative.

This initiative, Anwar explained, directly benefits e-hailing drivers by reducing their daily operating costs, easing their financial burden, and strengthening the e-hailing sector as an essential part of Malaysia’s public transport system. – October 3, 2025
