KUALA LUMPUR – The Retirement Fund (Incorporated) (KWAP) has announced the appointment of Datuk Jay Khairil Jeremy Abdullah as its new chief executive officer (CEO), effective May 20, 2026.
In a statement today, KWAP said Jay Khairil will succeed current CEO Datuk Nik Amlizan Mohamed, who has helmed the fund since 2020, Bernama reported.
The organisation also expressed gratitude for her leadership and contributions to KWAP’s growth and operational success.
Jay Khairil is tasked with guiding KWAP’s strategic direction, operational management, and institutional priorities, while advancing its mandate as Malaysia’s public sector pension fund through disciplined investment, robust governance, and long-term stewardship.
He brings nearly 30 years of experience in banking and financial services, with expertise spanning financial management, governance, internal audit, risk oversight, and institutional transformation.
Before joining KWAP, Jay Khairil served as chief executive of Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN), leading initiatives to enhance financial performance, expand digital banking services, strengthen operational resilience, and promote financial inclusion nationwide. He previously held roles as BSN’s chief financial officer and chief internal auditor, in addition to senior positions at CIMB Group, Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ (Malaysia), and Bank Negara Malaysia.
Jay Khairil is a chartered banker, chartered global management accountant, and certified financial services auditor. He is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants, the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, and a chartered member of the Institute of Internal Auditors Malaysia.
In a separate statement, BSN chairman Datuk Seri Awang Adek Hussin said, “Jay Khairil has been a key driver in strengthening the bank’s financial performance and social mandate, while also reinforcing governance and broadening financial inclusion, positioning BSN as a sustainable and resilient financial institution.”
Following Jay Khairil’s departure, BSN’s deputy chief executive Mujibburrahman Abd Rashid, who has served the bank since 2018, has been appointed as acting chief executive. – May 11, 2026
