KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad (MRCB) and Taiwan-based TECO Electric & Machinery Co., Ltd. (TECO) have entered into a strategic partnership to develop, deploy and validate next-generation AI-ready Modular Data Centres (MDC) in Malaysia.

In a statement, MRCH said the collaboration was formalised through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) today, focusing on the development of modular data centre solutions capable of supporting both air-cooled and liquid-cooled cabinet rack platforms.

The MDC will function as a testbed to demonstrate the technical and commercial viability of TECO’s modular technology, with the potential to support future data centre developments across MRCB’s landbank.

Under the agreement, MRCB will provide suitable land parcels with existing power supply allocations to facilitate the deployment and operation of the MDC, while also overseeing local authority submissions and regulatory approvals.

Both parties will explore opportunities to implement MDC projects through a Design & Build delivery model, combining MRCB’s development capabilities with TECO’s specialised technology expertise.

TECO will be responsible for the technical execution of the project, including the supply of advanced modular data centre solutions, specialised engineering capabilities and operational management support.

MRCB Group Managing Director Datuk Imran Salim said the partnership marked another step in the company’s efforts to expand into high-performance digital infrastructure.

“This collaboration with TECO’s expertise in delivering integrated energy-efficient solutions represents another important milestone in MRCB’s strategic diversification into high-performance digital infrastructure. Expanding upon our previously announced intention to develop a 65 MW AI-ready facility designed for large-scale enterprise workloads, this modular data centre development demonstrates the versatility and our ability to scale up the utilisation of our landbank.

“By integrating TECO’s specialised modular technology with our master development and engineering expertise, we are expanding our capabilities to serve varied market demands. Beyond establishing an early footprint in the modular data centre sector, this project supports our goal of generating long-term recurring revenue and unlocking maximum value from our landbank,” he said.

The partnership comes as demand for AI-driven infrastructure and data centre capacity continues to grow, with modular solutions offering greater flexibility and scalability for digital infrastructure deployment. – August 10, 2026
