Photo of the day: Red light means stop…and snacks?

2:03 PM MYT

A peddler, wearing shorts, kneels on the hot tarmac, cajoling motorists to purchase snacks as they stop at the red light amid sweltering conditions. Even though the seller is putting his life and limb at stake to bring in income, his action disrupts traffic flow and poses risks to himself as well as others.

It is also a violation of Rule 10A(1) LN 166/59 of the road traffic rules, prohibiting buying or selling of goods at traffic lights and intersections. A crackdown initiated in 2021 includes fines ranging from RM150 to RM2,000 for offenders. – March 12, 2024
