IN what was supposed to be a happy family outing today, Azimah Azaha lost her husband, Arif Fadzil Abdul Saleh, 43, her son Malik, 6, and daughter Damia, 9.

Tragedy struck while the family of seven children was enjoying a picnic on the banks of Sg Balak along the Jalan Genting-Batang Kali road in Hulu Selangor. Arif drowned while trying to save Damia, who fell into the water, while Malik had jumped into the river without his mother’s knowledge.

It was Azimah who pulled her husband and children’s bodies out of the river and called for help. Here, she is waiting at the Kuala Kubu Baharu Hospital’s forensics unit for the post-mortem on their bodies to be completed. – May 5, 2024
