BUSINESS is slow for vendors in the alleys and lanes around Jalan Masjid India as shoppers stay away after the August 23 sinkhole incident when a woman disappeared after the ground beneath her gave way suddenly. The victim, identified as Vijaya Lakshmi, 48, from Andhra Pradesh, India, is still missing, and the search for her in Kuala Lumpur’s sewerage lines underground is now in its fifth day. – August 27, 2024
