KOTA BHARU – The Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) has successfully handled 63,399 cases nationwide involving patients with physical and mental health issues through its Return To Work (RTW) programme, from 2022 until June this year.

Perkeso Group Chief Executive Officer Datuk Seri Dr Mohammed Azman Aziz Mohammed said of these,  44,154 insured individuals (OB) have successfully returned to work.

“The numbers involve 1,663 motivation cases managed by Kelantan case managers and of those, 1,128 have returned to work.

“Perkeso’s RTW programme has enabled workers who have been rehabilitated after suffering injuries or diseases to return to the workforce,” he told reporters after handing out RM4,060 worth of aid in the form of workshop tools to Perkeso contributor Tengku Mohamad Amirul Akmal Tengku Ruslan at Kampung Hutan Banggol, Pantai Cahaya Bulan (PCB), here today.

Mohammed Azman said the programme also helps workers with psychiatric illnesses to return to their productive best.

RTW is carried out with the cooperation of hospitals through the Re-employment Support, Treatment and Rehabilitation Team (Restart) programme.

“Restart is a collaboration between Perkeso’s RTW division and Community Mental Health Centre (Mentari) and the Health Ministry’s Department of Psychiatry and Mental Health.

“Through this cooperation, patients are assisted through the RTW and Work Support programmes to a point where they are independent enough in various ways and capable of working again,” he added.

He said to date, there are almost 30 government hospitals nationwide involved under this programme, five of which are in Kelantan, namely Raja Perempuan Zainab II (HRPZII) Hospital, Kuala Krai Hospital, Tanah Merah Hospital, Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital (HUSM) in Kubang Kerian and Mentari Ketereh. – August 6, 2023
