KUALA LUMPUR – Thousands of protesters have gathered outside the United States embassy along Jalan Tun Razak this afternoon in yet another show of solidarity for Palestinians enduring relentless Israeli airstrikes.

The Himpunan 10K Solidariti Palestin (10k Palestine Solidarity Rally), hosted by opposition parties PAS and Bersatu, as well as related non-governmental organisations, kicked off the gathering at about 2pm today, with some attendees arriving at the initial assembly point near the Asy-Syakirin mosque near the Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) as early as 12pm today.

With hundreds of attendees waving Palestinian flags, the gathering marks the seventh rally in the city to extend support to Gaza since the war began on October 7.

Some attendees had reportedly made their way from Terengganu and Kelantan, arriving by bus to join the rally.

Meanwhile, the situation in Gaza has deteriorated, with all communication channels to the region severed, while the Zionist regime intensifies its military operations

Al-Jazeera correspondents have reported increased airstrikes and artillery attacks in northern Gaza.

Among those seen attending the rally were PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang, former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan, PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man and Pejuang president Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir.

In his speech, Mukhriz accused Israel of perpetrating war crimes in the Gaza Strip, leading many civilians in Western nations such as the US and those in Europe to rise up and oppose the Israeli regime. – October 28, 2023
