Leave unity govt if you’re insincere, Selangor PKR Youth leader tells MIC

This after BN component’s talk of taking further action if not afforded ‘due respect’ by PM

PUTRAJAYA – A Selangor PKR Youth leader has chided Barisan Nasional component party MIC after the latter cautioned that it will take action if Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim does not afford the party “due respect”.

Addressing over 2,000 delegates at the party wing’s congress today, Selangor PKR Youth chief Muhammad Izuan Ahmad Kasim said that those not aligned with the prime minister, who also serves as the Pakatan Harapan chairman, should consider leaving the unity government coalition.

“During a recent general meeting, there were murmurs from unity government coalition partners, offering a word or two to our (PKR) president (Anwar). My advice to our (unity government) coalition partners is, if you feel insincere about being with us, just leave.

“There’s no need to be a thorn in our side. Give space to our party and our president to fix the economy and make Malaysia better. (To leave) is the best,” Izuan said during his debate on PKR Youth chief Adam Adli Abdul Halim’s policy speech.

Izuan later confirmed with several media outlets that he was referring to MIC deputy president Datuk Seri M. Saravanan’s speech during the party’s congress last week.

In his speech, Saravanan reportedly said that the party will consider taking further action if the party does not receive recognition from Anwar’s administration.

However, Saravanan, who is also the party’s sole representative in the Dewan Rakyat as Tapah MP, supposedly did not clarify what sort of action the party will consider. – November 25, 2023
