PETALING JAYA – Police have proceeded to conduct a thorough house-to-house inspection in Blok R, Idaman Apartments, Damansara Damai this evening, aiming to aid the ongoing investigation into the murder of autistic child, Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin.

The inspection, conducted by members of the force’s forensic unit and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), is geared towards identifying and collecting crucial evidence that could significantly contribute to solving the case.

Earlier in the evening, three forensic unit vehicles and a patrol car were seen entering the Block R area, with approximately 25 policemen present in the vicinity.

At 8.44pm, police officers were witnessed ascending to the second and third floors of the designated block.

The team was also seen leaving the apartment area at around 10.30pm today.

Earlier in the day, a tracker dog from the police’s K9 Unit was deployed to the location.

Five members of the K9 Unit, entered the block at around 5.15pm to uncover new evidence related to the murder. However, the unit concluded its activities and left the location at 5.35pm.

Zayn Rayyan went missing last Tuesday at 12.30pm, prompting his mother to make a public announcement on social media and file a police report.

The subsequent search efforts, involving the police, firemen, the Malaysian Civil Defence Force, K9 Unit detection dogs, and volunteers, covered the nearby bush and ditch within a 300m radius.

However, 6-year-old Zayn Rayyan’s body was discovered the following day in a creek area some 100m away from his residence.

CID director Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain revealed in a press conference that Zayn Rayyan was likely killed elsewhere and not at the location where his body was found.

Subsequently, the police have launched a comprehensive investigation, employing various methods to apprehend the suspect.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. – December 12, 2023
