KTMB shuttle buses to run between Tg Malim-Sg Buloh stations after crane collapse

Passengers can also get refunds via KTMB Wallet if they decide to cancel their journeys

KUALA LUMPUR – KTMB has provided 24 shuttle buses to ferry affected passengers to the nearest stations for their onward journeys, following service disruptions due to a fallen crane on the railway line between Rawang and Kuang yesterday.

While repairs are ongoing and expected to be completed within 24 hours, service routes will end at other stations where passengers can catch shuttle buses to further stations, KTMB Group chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Rani Hisham Samsudin said today.

“For now, the Padang Besar-Gemas ETS line service ends at the Tanjung Malim station, (from there) passengers will board the shuttle buses provided to the Sungai Buloh station for them to continue their journey to KL Sentral and Gemas.

“For the Gemas-KL Sentral-Butterworth and Gemas-KL Sentral-Padang Besar lines, meanwhile, passengers will board the ETS train from KL Sentral to the Sungai Buloh station before being taken by bus to the Tanjung Malim station to continue their journey to their respective destinations via the ETS train on the unaffected lines,” he said.

Mohd Rani said that as a preliminary measure, KTMB has isolated the electricity supply to the affected line to ensure the area is safe for restoration work and avoid any untoward incidents.

Those who want to cancel their journey can obtain refunds through the KTMB Wallet by contacting the KTMB Call Centre at 03-22671100 or through KTMB’s social media platforms.

Mohd Rani at a press conference earlier today said the crane had collapsed due to weak soil at its base. The crane landed on both sides of the railway line, disrupting train services including Komuter, ETS and KTM cargo services.

The incident at KM355.74 between Rawang and Kuang at 5.35pm yesterday, happened during the construction of a multi-storey parking lot located near Railway Assets Corp. There were no injuries or casualties reported among construction workers and passengers.

At present, Rani said the railway company is in the midst of replacing the damaged components and cables as well as testing the power supply to the overhead line located above the tracks. KTMB expects repairs to be completed in 24 hours. – December 13, 2023
