KUALA LUMPUR – A man with nine criminal records has been charged with two counts under Section 302 of the Penal Code at the magistrates’ court, here, today, for murdering both his parents.

However, no plea was recorded from Afendi Muhammad Agus, 42, when the charges were read to him before magistrate Wong Chai Sia this morning as murder cases are under the high court’s jurisdiction.

The 42-year-old was charged with two counts of intentionally killing by causing the death of Muhammad Agus @ Muhamed Ali Omar, 82, and Darlisma Njatu Saleh, 72, at a house in Kg Sg Penchala located at Jalan Penchala Hilir 6, here.

He was accused of committing the act between 7.10pm and 7.20pm on December 9.

The prosecution was represented by deputy public prosecutor Vivien Yeap Jie Xi while the accused was unrepresented in today’s proceeding.

Magistrate Wong then fixed January 31 for case mention.

It was recently reported that the married couple were found dead in a living room of a house after an argument took place between them and their son, who is a suspected drug addict.

The said “son,” now identified as Afendi, was arrested at the Penchala Tunnel on the Sprint Highway at 10.30pm the same day.

Brickfields district police chief Amihizam Abdul Shukor was reported saying that the 42-year-old man was apprehended by police officers conducting an operation to track him down after he had fled the crime scene.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid was reported saying on December 10 that the then suspect had just been charged for a drug-related offence on December 1, where he was released on RM2,000 bail.

Allaudeen also said that Afendi has nine criminal records spread between January 2016 and November this year.

In the same media report, Allaudeen also confirmed Afendi was brought to the Brickfields district police headquarters, and his urine test came back positive for amphetamine, methamphetamine and morphine. – December 15, 2023
