Puchong downpour leads to landslide in Taman Wawasan, nearby houses evacuated

Report says no one harmed but one vehicle damaged, soil movement still detected

KUALA LUMPUR – The downpour this evening has resulted in a landslide in Taman Wawasan, Puchong, today.

In a statement, the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Operations Centre said the landslide occurred in front of a house on Jalan Wawasan 3/4, Pusat Bandar Puchong. 

No one was harmed during the incident but a Honda vehicle was damaged.

The rescue team is also evacuating seven houses close to the landslide area as there is still soil movement detected.

“The operation, led by Puchong Fire and Rescue Station Operations Officer Haswan Mohd Wasir, found the landslide in front of the house, measuring 50m by 10m. It also involved a Honda vehicle.” 

Pictures and videos circulated saw part of the road along Jalan Wawasan give way during the downpour in the area.

Earlier, flash floods hit several areas in Puchong, resulting in IOI Mall’s premises being inundated.

Videos of mall-goers wading in ankle-deep waters on the ground floor. It also showed that people were stranded as the parking lot was also flooded. – December 16, 2023
