Three, including two minors, charged with kidnapping 7-year-old boy in JB

Alleged abduction by accused aged 16, 17 and 18 had occurred on Dec 12

KUALA LUMPUR – Three individuals, including two minors, were charged at the Johor Bahru magistrates’ court with kidnapping a 7-year-old boy earlier this month.

The three pleaded not guilty to the charges, which were read to them in Mandarin before magistrate R. Salini today.

According to the charges, Jonathan Yet, 18, and two underage accused, aged 16 and 17, kidnapped the boy from his guardian.

The crime allegedly took place at Jalan Serampang, Johor Bahru, at 5.15pm on December 12.

The three were alleged to have committed the offence, which is punishable under Section 363 of the Penal Code for kidnapping, which is read together with Section 34 of the same legislation for a criminal act committed by several persons with a common intention.

If convicted, they could be jailed for up to seven years or ordered to pay a fine.

The prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor Shamira Mohd Luthfi Ismail, while the accused were not represented. – December 27, 2023
