Road nearby has been closed with no alternative for users in area going to Mersing

KUALA LUMPUR – The access to KM34 Jalan Kota Tinggi-Mersing has been cut off this morning when parts of the road were inundated after Sg Ambat overflowed due to heavy rain.

The police said the road near the Rubber Industry Smallholders Development Authority (Risda) factory has been closed to all vehicles as of 8am.

This means there are no alternative routes for the road users in the area heading to Mersing.

“The public is advised to remain vigilant and cautious during the flood season. Follow instructions issued by the authorities to avoid any accidents.”

A video shared on Anak Mersing – a Facebook community page – of a car being stuck in the inundated road. Commenters also claimed that three vehicles were stranded earlier while trying to brave the flood.

The same road was also flooded on December 31, cutting off access for many road users. – January 2, 2024
