Worker dies, another critical after landslide at quarry in Bandar Saujana Putra

One victim rescued from rubble, the other found dead when removed from earthfall

KUALA LUMPUR – A worker died and another is in critical condition after being buried under a landslide at a quarry in Bandar Saujana Putra, near Kuala Langat today.

One of the victims was rescued from the rubble by members of the public before the Fire and Rescue Department arrived. He has been rushed to Putrajaya Hospital for treatment.

Another man, who is also in his 30s, was found dead when he was being removed from the rubble by the rescue team.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Wan Md Razali Wan Ismail said an emergency call was placed at 4.32pm and a team from the Telok Panglima Garang station was deployed to the site.

“Upon arrival, we found that there were two victims trapped under the landslide.

“The second victim was removed from the rubble at 6.42pm by the rescue team and confirmed dead.”

He added that checks found that the landslide was more than a metre deep. – January 4, 2024
