KUALA LUMPUR – Three individuals, including a woman, were detained on suspicion of kidnapping a 17-year-old-girl in front of a secondary school in Kepong, on Friday.

In a statement today, Gombak district police chief Assistant Commissioner Noor Ariffin Mohamad Nasir said his officers received a report regarding the incident from the victim’s 42-year-old mother at 10.36am, the same day.

“Investigations revealed that the woman (mother) was informed (on the incident) by a teacher.

“The Form Five student was kidnapped by a local man and woman using a car,” he said.

Noor Ariffin said the teenager was then brought to a “homestay” before being released around noon on the same day.

“We have arrested three individuals aged between 20 to 22, on January 5 around 11.30pm on suspicion of being involved in the incident.

“We also seized a white-coloured Toyota and a Yamaha Y125ZR motorcycle,” he said.

The suspects who are being investigated under Section 365 of the Penal Code for kidnapping, have been remanded for four days beginning from yesterday until Tuesday (January 9).
