KUALA LUMPUR – There have been no updates in the ongoing investigation into the tragic murder of 6-year-old autistic boy Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin last month, police say.
Deputy Inspector-General of Police Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said investigations are ongoing.
“We never stopped investigating this case. Police are still continuing with the probe; it is ongoing.
“If there are any developments, they will be shared. As of now, there are no new developments,” he was reported as saying.
On December 5, Zayn Rayyan was reported missing, and he was found dead the next day near a river about 200m from his home with injuries to the neck.
The case was reclassified from sudden death to murder after a post-mortem revealed injuries to the boy’s neck and body.
Defensive wounds were also found on the boy.
It was reported that the police had sought help from Interpol.
Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said certain items of evidence were sent to Interpol to be cross-checked with the Interpol database.
He also said evidence from Zayn Rayyan’s body, which was obtained during the course of the investigation, was sent for further detailing and investigation. – January 8, 2024
