91 Bidor escapees rearrested, 38 still at large, say Perak police

Of those recaptured, 66 caught by cops, 25 by Immigration Dept

IPOH – A total of 91 of the 131 undocumented migrants who broke out of the Bidor Temporary Immigration Depot in Tapah last Thursday have been rearrested as of 8pm yesterday.

Perak police chief Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said of this number, 66 were recaptured by police and 25 by the Immigration Department. Thirty-eight of the escapees are still at large.

“Today, eight Rohingya illegal immigrants were arrested in the Jalan Kachu Forest area, Tapah, Hab Getah Bidor and Kg Senta Bidor.

“Police urge the public to continue cooperating to track down the remaining escapees,” he said in a statement.

One of the migrants was killed in a road accident after fleeing the immigration centre. – February 7, 2024
