KUALA LUMPUR – Police have confirmed that no further action was taken against a man who was captured dragging a woman into a swimming pool in a viral video.

Subang Jaya police chief Wan Azlan Wan Mamat confirmed that the incident occurred at the D’Latour Condominium near Bandar Sunway on February 15.

He said no further action was taken because the victim insisted on not wanting any investigation into the incident.

“The individuals involved in the incident are a couple who are not Malaysian citizens.

“The victim declined to cooperate with the investigation and asked that no legal action be taken against her partner,” he said.

According to a social media post, a user claimed the incident lasted about half an hour before security personnel intervened.

It allegedly occurred after the suspect learned about the victim’s pregnancy and refused an abortion.

The video showed a man engaging in a heated argument with a woman, resorting to dragging her by the hair into a swimming pool and seemingly attempting to drown her.

The viral post prompted netizens to express their concern, labelling the incident as attempted murder and expressing their hopes for the woman’s safety. – February 18, 2024
