KUALA LUMPUR – CelcomDigi has unveiled its latest healthcare initiative, the Digital Healthcare Solutions programme, which aims to provide personalised treatment plans utilising real-time data.

Launched today at its headquarters by Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil, he announced that the programme was an initiative aimed at offering personalised treatment plans derived from real-time data collection.

Fahmi said that the public can access medical consultations through this programme using only smartphones and an internet connection, specifically leveraging the 5G network, irrespective of their residential locations.

“With just a smartphone and an internet connection, individuals can consult with healthcare professionals through telemedicine, receive personalised health insights and access a wealth of health resources.

“This collaboration is not just about pushing the boundaries of technology; it’s about improving lives and making healthcare more accessible and efficient for everyone,” he said during the launch today.

Speaking about his recent visit to the Norwegian Radium Hospital in Oslo, he underscored the potential of 5G technology in telecommunications and healthcare within the hospital environment.

With the RM100 million allocated for the Geran Digital PMKS Madani (GDPM) by the Madani government in the budget, he hopes that the digital programme, supported by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA), will represent a significant milestone in the country’s digital healthcare ecosystem.

The GDPM aims to offer much-needed financial aid to eligible businesses by providing a matching grant of 50%, or up to RM5,000, he added.

“As part of the initiative, the MCMC has been designated as one of the grant facilitators and identified digital healthcare as one of the core focus areas for GDPM, acknowledging the immense potential for innovation and growth within this sector.

“I urge local micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) within the healthcare industry to seize this opportunity and leverage the GDPM grant to digitalise their businesses.

“By embracing digital technologies, MSMEs can enhance customer experiences, improve operational efficiency and unlock new opportunities for growth and expansion,” he added.

CelcomDigi chief executive Datuk Idham Nawawi said the telecommunication company’s foray into the healthcare industry was with the goal of providing accessible medical services to the public and enhancing their wellness facilities.

“The programme offers simple solutions through a single transaction for doctors, with costs as low as RM180 per month,” he said.

He further added that the government was supporting CelcomDigi by subsidising up to 50% of this programme under the GDPM scheme.

Among those present were MCMC chief industry development officer Muhammad Razali Anuar, MMA president Dr Azizan Abdul Aziz and Bank Simpanan Nasional chief executive Jay Khairil Jeremy Abdullah. – March 6, 2024
