KUALA LUMPUR – The viral video clips depicting a gruesome murder, where a model allegedly stabbed her 26-year-old boyfriend in Bandar Rimbayu, near Kota Kemuning, yesterday, have sparked mixed reactions on social media platforms.

While some netizens criticise the woman’s fatal violence as traumatising, others justify her actions, claiming it was an act of “protection”, as seen in the comment section on her Instagram account.

In the circulated clips on social media platforms, the victim, a freelance photographer, can be seen writhing in pain on the blood-spattered floor after being stabbed by his girlfriend.

The woman, a part-time model who allegedly attacked her boyfriend out of jealousy, is seen in the video putting clothes on him to stop the bleeding. The victim’s friend is believed to have recorded the incident.

The woman was arrested yesterday and remanded for six days, pending an investigation into the incident.

Kuala Langat police chief Ahmad Ridhwan Mohd Nor @ Saleh said authorities received a report from a doctor at Cyberjaya Hospital about the victim on the morning of March 12.

He said that the case is believed to be motivated by jealousy, as the victim was allegedly unfaithful to his partner.

According to Ridhwan, the victim was pronounced dead at 7.25am yesterday due to CPR failure.

The victim was found with stab wounds to his left wrist and leg, resulting in massive blood loss.

An X user with the handle @thineshjr11 expressed horror at the way the victim struggled in the video.

“Just saw the video of the guy who got stabbed by his girlfriend. Damn, it was truly horrifying looking at how hard he was struggling and she was just there wiping his blood off. Scary times,” the user said.

Apart from condemning the woman’s actions towards her boyfriend, @thineshjr11 and some other internet users also criticised the person who recorded the video at the scene instead of offering immediate assistance to the victim, who was still alive in the footage.

In a follow-up post, @thineshjr11 highlighted the dire situation caused by the victim’s lack of immediate help.

A user named @thisisthishaa said: “The way both the fellas (believed to be the victims’ friends) were more concerned about recording it (the incident) rather than saving his (the victim’s) life.”

Another disturbing aspect of this murder case is that the suspect is reportedly a former medical student who identifies herself as a “feminist” and “doctor” in her Instagram bio.

Commenting on a pinned post of the suspect’s Instagram account, a user named my_mas93 said that the suspect could have handled the situation better, as she is a former trainee medical doctor.

While many condemned the suspect’s actions, other netizens believed they were justified, claiming she stabbed her boyfriend to “defend herself”.

An Instagram user named Lorraine_sek suggested that the woman could have carried a knife to protect herself from the boyfriend who could potentially be “abusive”.

“She was always carrying something (weapon) on her to protect herself and her bf woke up and started yelling at her,” Lorraine_sek noted.

“I saw the video. No one will just do that to someone without being pushed to that extent. Carrying something always to protect herself means she feels her life could be in danger.”

However, an X user named Jiven Sekar said no one should normalise or justify the violent act because it is clearly seen as a murder attempt.

“Murder is murder. There (are) no two ways about it. It’s not a movie for you to justify the killing. Nobody has a right to take someone else’s life,” he said on X. – March 13, 2024
