KUALA LUMPUR – Kuala Kubu Bharu assemblywoman Lee Kee Hiong died today, aged 58.
The DAP politician’s death was shared by Bentong MP Young Syefura Othman via media chat groups.
Lee was elected Kuala Kubu Bharu assemblywoman in May 2013, retaining the seat in subsequent elections.
She was not present at a recent event in her constituency and was represented by Bandar Utama assemblyman Jamaliah Jamaluddin, who distributed moreh aid and dates to six mosques and 21 surau in her constituency, according to a post on March 18 by the Adun Kuala Kubu Bharu Service Centre Facebook page.
Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, in a statement, said Lee’s death was a great loss to everyone in the state, especially those in Kuala Kubu Bharu whom she had represented for a long time.
“The passing of Lee Kee Hiong is a profound loss felt by numerous people, particularly the residents of Kuala Kubu Baharu.
“For many years, she tirelessly represented and aided the community, even before assuming her official role as their representative,” he added.
Amirudin, representing the state government, expressed his heartfelt condolences to Lee’s family as well as to all her friends and DAP members who have lost an esteemed leader.
“May they find the strength to overcome this difficult time,” he added. – March 21, 2024
