Maybank’s services back to normal after last night’s outage

Customers were furious, with many ‘stranded’ in restaurants, malls where they couldn’t pay

KUALA LUMPUR – Maybank services are back to normal on its apps, website and other channels following an outage last night that left its customers stranded and unable to pay for their purchases.

“Kindly be informed that you may now perform your transactions as usual on Maybank2u web, MAE app, ATMs and Self Service Terminals (SSTs) as the services are back to normal.

“We thank you for your continued patience and support,” Maybank said on X earlier this morning.

In another post in reply to a complaint that a transaction on MAE was still not reflected in Maybank2u, the bank said that it had also conducted scheduled maintenance for transaction details and history until 6am today.

Many Maybank customers were fuming last night when online payment services suddenly went down. They posted complaints on social media that they could not load the Maybank2u app nor make payments with it.

Some users ended up “trapped” in various shops, as they were not able to pay for their purchases.

Others reported being stuck trying to exit shopping mall parking lots, as payments could not be made at the parking boom gate.

Many expressed unhappiness that the system failed to function just as they were busy preparing and making purchases for Hari Raya next week. – April 6, 2024
