KUALA LUMPUR – The wife of the suspect in the shooting incident at Kuala Lumpur International Airport’s (KLIA) arrival hall this morning has declined to make any further statements for now.

The woman known as Farah Cie, who was the reported target of the suspect, said that she will not make any statements on the advice of her legal team.

She also requested that the public refer to the official statement issued by police on the incident.

“The suspect is being searched for, please refer to every official statement from the police.

“I am advised by the legal team not to make any statements related to this case for now,” she said on Facebook.

Meanwhile, Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan reminded the public not to speculate about the incident as it could impact the investigation.

“This case does not involve any elements of terrorism, and I want to stress that the situation at KLIA is currently safe and under control.

“Please refrain from making comments that could disturb public order and allow the police the space needed to conduct the investigation,” he said.

Earlier, Scoop reported that a bodyguard was seriously injured after being shot by the suspect.

Hussein said the suspect had actually intended to shoot his wife, who was waiting for the Umrah pilgrims at KLIA, but instead the bullet hit the bodyguard involved in the incident at 1.30am.

He added that the suspect fired twice and one of the bullets hit the bodyguard.

The police are now actively tracking the 38-year-old suspect, who is believed to have fled towards the north. – April 14, 2024
