KUALA LUMPUR – Heavy rain has led to flash floods and water pooling in several areas around the Klang Valley.
The Kuala Lumpur Federal Territories Information Department, through social media platform X, reported affected areas including Subang, Petaling Jaya, Gombak, and Kuala Lumpur.
Two areas in Klang also recorded rising water levels to dangerous levels as of 5.30pm today.
According to the Selangor Drainage and Irrigation Department’s flood information website, the Selat Klang area recorded a water level reading of 3.32m, exceeding the danger level of 3.0m.
Meanwhile, the Kg Rantau Panjang area along the Klang river recorded a water level of 3.74m, surpassing the danger level of 3.0m.
Earlier, the Malaysian Meteorological Department issued a warning for thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds in several Malaysian states until 7pm.
Areas expected to be affected include Perak, Terengganu (Besut and Hulu Terengganu), Pahang (Jerantut and Maran), Selangor, Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory, Putrajaya Federal Territory, Negri Sembilan (Jelebu, Seremban, Port Dickson, Rembau, and Tampin), Melaka, Johor, Sarawak (Sri Aman, Betong – Saratok and Kabong, Sarikei – Pakan and Julau, Kapit – Song, Miri – Telang Usan and Marudi, and Limbang), as well as Sabah (Interior – Sipitang, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort, and Tambunan, West Coast – Kota Belud, Sandakan – Kinabatangan, and Kudat – Kota Marudu and Kudat). – April 22, 2024
