KUALA KUBU BAHARU – The government has failed to adequately allocate funds for those in need, particularly local entrepreneurs without fallback options, says Parti Rakyat Malaysia candidate Hafizah Zainudin.
She said that despite the government’s implementation of various financial aid initiatives, local entrepreneurs consistently express dissatisfaction with the lack of fund allocation.
“The government allocates significant funds for businesses, but unfortunately, they often don’t reach those who truly need them.
“During the pandemic, for example, many firms that received aid were those with assets that could be liquidated to sustain their operations.
“The government should go to the grassroots to help (local businesses) as they lack liquid assets. This should be the top priority,” she told reporters during her walkabout session here today.
Hafizah said the government should closely engage with the people instead of merely promising “the moon and stars”.
She said designating a day each week to meet with the locals of Kuala Kubu Baharu will allow her to address their concerns firsthand.
“I’m not implying I’d allocate resources right after winning, but I’ll be more connected to the people,” she added.
Hafizah is poised for a four-cornered fight, with Pang Sock Tao representing Pakatan Harapan, Khairul Azhari Saut from Perikatan Nasional, and Nyau Ke Xin running independently.
Early voting for the Kuala Kubu Baharu seat will be tomorrow, May 7, while polling day is set for May 11.
The state seat was vacated following the death of assemblywoman Lee Kee Hiong due to ovarian cancer. She had defended the seat for PH-DAP since winning it in 2013 – May 6, 2024
