Hadi is ‘lying’, doesn’t even believe his own lies: Guan Eng

PAS president had accused DAP of wanting to ‘eradicate race and destroy Islam’ in a recent speech for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election

KUALA LUMPUR – Perikatan Nasional (PN) and PAS are unfit to lead the country as they persist in peddling extremist tropes to win votes, said DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng.

Lim also took issue with PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang’s speech at Kuala Kubu Baharu last night, saying that accusing DAP of wanting to “eradicate race and destroy Islam” is irresponsible and dangerous.

“Such outrageous lies are a clear and present danger to racial and religious harmony in the country,” he said in a statement.

“Hadi is lying when he cautioned Umno members and supporters in Selangor not to repeat the mistake of losing political power in Singapore, because Umno had never won power in Singapore.

“DAP had no official relations and communications with Singapore’s People’s Action Party (PAP) after the separation in 1965. DAP only had official communications with the Singapore government when Pakatan Rakyat won power in five states (after the 2008 general election).”

Lim then took a swipe at PAS, saying the party welcomed Singapore founder Lee Kuan Yew when he visited Kelantan.

He added that PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man even welcomed a Singapore delegation comprising its National Development Minister Desmond Lee and Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, to talk about investments in the four PN states.

Last night, Hadi reminded the voters of Kuala Kubu Baharu that electing a Muslim leader is mandatory

He also cautioned Umno members and supporters in Selangor against repeating the same mistake of losing political authority, as seen in Singapore.

“DAP, an offshoot of the People’s Action Party (PAP) in Singapore, is an extreme party with the ambition to subversively seize political control and incite unrest within the nation.”

This is not the first time Hadi has been criticised for his speeches. Last year, police confirmed that the PAS leader was being investigated for 3R (royalty, religion and race) issues. – May 10, 2024
