KUALA LUMPUR – A man is believed to have been attacked by a crocodile while fishing with four friends on the banks of Sg Semeruang in Bangkong Asal, Sarawak, yesterday.
A spokesman for the state fire and rescue operations centre said the distress call was received from the Sri Aman district police headquarters about the incident at 7.30pm and the search-and-rescue operation commenced at 8am this morning.
He said that search-and-rescue operations could not be conducted last night because it was already dark.
“The victim, identified as Lawrence Adi Raynold, 32, along with three other friends, were fishing on the riverbank.
“The incident occurred around 5pm and was about 40 minutes away from the victim’s longhouse.”
“Search-and-rescue efforts for the victim will commence at 8am today,” he said. – May 13, 2024
